Stat Priority
On this page, we explain what the best statistics are for Discipline Priests in World of Warcraft WoD 6.2.2, how the class benefits from each of them.
The statistics priority is important as it influences itemisation choices (gear, enchants, and gems).
1. Basics↑top
We currently propose the following statistic priority for Discipline Priests.
- Intellect;
- Mastery;
- Haste OR Critical Strike (see explanation);
- Multistrike;
- Versatility.
Note that the values of Critical Strike, Haste, and Multistrike are very close together, and it is of the utmost importance to get as much Mastery as possible.
These statistics have been obtained by combining common sense, in-game testing, and simulations using Simulation Craft.
2. Getting a Better Understanding↑top
Intellect is your primary stat. You should look for this stat in all of your upgrades. It provides you with Spell Power, which increases the power of your heals.
Spirit increases your Mana regeneration. You should always aim to have items with Spirit. Once you are comfortable with your Mana regeneration, you can start prioritising other statistics. Spirit is only available for healers on Amulets, Cloaks, Rings, and Trinkets.
Critical Strike is vital for generating Divine Aegis and making the most of your Mastery.
Mastery ( Mastery: Shield Discipline) increases the potency of your damage absorption effects, as well as increasing your healing done.
Haste reduces the cast time of your spells, and also reduces your global cooldown.
2.1. Haste Versus Critical Strike
Haste is the best choice of stat until you are comfortable with how low your global cooldown is. This is important since it is essentially the limiting factor to your ability to spam Power Word: Shield. Exactly how much Haste you should have is up to your own personal preference.
Once you are comfortable enough with your global cooldown, Critical Strike becomes the preferred choice among the two.
