Druid Leveling Guide
In this guide, we will offer you some quick and practical information for leveling up your Druid from level 85 to level 100. We cover rotation, talents and glyphs. We do not, however, cover statistics, gear, or any information about the zones you should be questing in.
This guide requires a basic understanding of how the Druid class works at a high level. This guide is not meant to reflect how you should play your character at maximum level, or in a dungeon or raid environment.
While leveling up from level 85 to 90, you can complete 4 dungeons:
While leveling up from level 90 to 100, you can complete 4 dungeons:
- Bloodmaul Slag Mines;
- Iron Docks;
- Auchindoun;
- Skyreach.
These dungeons have quests which reward you with vast amounts of experience.
In our opinion, you should level your Druid up as either Balance or Feral, since this is much more efficient than using one of the other two specs.
1. Balance Leveling Guide: 85-100↑top
1.1. Talents and Glyphs
Before setting out on your leveling journey, you should take these talents and glyphs, for maximum efficiency. Obviously, this is not set in stone, and you have a lot of liberty.
For glyphs, you can choose which ever you prefer in the empty slots. Overall, glyphs provide you with practically no benefit while leveling up as a Balance Druid.
At level 90, you will be able to choose a tier 6 talent. None of these talents is particularly useful, so you can choose one based on your preference. Dream of Cenarius is entirely passive, so you can take this for the least amount of management.
1.2. Rotation
The rotation you use while leveling up will prove to be very similar to your normal raiding rotation, but we will summarise the rotation you should use below.
- Apply Moonfire and Sunfire on targets who will live for more than 10 seconds. Note that each DoT is only available in its respective eclipse (Moonfire during Lunar, and Sunfire during Solar).
- Cast Starsurge often enough to keep its charges rolling.
- Look out for the Lunar Empowerment and Solar Empowerment buffs that Starsurge, and try to use them up by casting Wrath and Starfire.
- Watch out for Shooting Stars granting you extra charges of Starsurge.
- Cast Wrath while you are in a Solar Eclipse.
- Cast Starfire while you are in a Lunar Eclipse.
Against multiple targets, you should always make sure that Starfall is rolling, and if the targets live for long enough, you can also apply your DoTs to them.
Below, we will quickly list your important DPS cooldowns, survival abilities, and the leveling perks you will gain between level 90 and 100.
1.2.1. Cooldowns
Ability | Usage |
---|---|
Celestial Alignment | DPS-increasing cooldown; use against powerful enemies |
1.2.2. Survival
Ability | Usage |
---|---|
Barkskin | Use regularly to reduce incoming damage |
Healing Touch | Use to heal yourself |
1.2.3. Perks
At levels 92, 94, 96, and 98 you will receive one of 4 perks, in random order. Below, we list the perks and quickly mention how they affect your playstyle.
Perk | Effect |

Empowered Moonkin | Attacks against you can grant you instant cast spells; make use of these as much as possible |

2. Feral Leveling Guide: 85-100↑top
2.1. Talents and Glyphs
Before setting out on your leveling journey, you should take these talents and glyphs, for maximum efficiency. Obviously, this is not set in stone, and you have a lot of liberty. Notably, you can choose Soul of the Forest instead of Force of Nature for less management and for a steady increase in Energy generation.
For glyphs, you can choose which ever you prefer in the empty slots.
At level 90, you will be able to choose a tier 6 talent. None of these talents is particularly useful, so you can choose one based on your preference. Dream of Cenarius is entirely passive, so you can take this for the least amount of management.
2.2. Rotation
The rotation you use while leveling up will prove to be very similar to your normal raiding rotation, but we will summarise the rotation you should use below.
- Use Shred to generate Combo Points.
- Keep Savage Roar up.
- Maintain Rake on the target.
- Maintain Rip on the target, with 5 Combo Points.
Against targets who die very quickly, you should use your Combo Points on Ferocious Bite, as a strong Finishing Move, instead of on Rip, which is a bleed. For targets who live a long time, use excess Energy and Combo Points on Ferocious Bite while maintaining the above-mentioned bleeds.
Against multiple targets, you should perform the single target rotation but also maintain the Thrash bleed on them. If the targets are only alive for a short while, you can simply use Swipe.
Below, we will quickly list your important DPS cooldowns, survival abilities, and the leveling perks you will gain between level 90 and 100.
